Identify the Symbiosis

The symbiosis between the log and the lichens is called mutualism because both the log and lichens are being benefited. Also the lichens forming on the log are dead to because the lichens are just a fungus forming on the log. Lichens how others utilize light energy in sunlight to turn carbon dioxide and water into oxygen. Lichens are important to their function because they protect the object they are covering during harsh weather where algae can not survive.
